Do you know what a trumpet or a French horn looks like up close and personal? Have you ever wanted to make a trombone slide, or find out what it feels like to hold a violin under your chin? Well, this might be your chance!! The Saskatoon Youth Orchestra is bringing a number of musical instruments to see and try. It’s a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo!!
The Saskatoon Youth Orchestra (SYO) has been offering young musicians the chance to have fun, make friends and improve their playing skills since 1958. The SYO has garnered numerous awards and has travelled to workshops across Canada. It is an important source of the city’s classical musicians, with many SYO alumni going on to share their talent as professional performers, educators, and leaders in the community. Michael Swan, concertmaster of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, is among their alumni.
