Singer/songwriter Dory Cook tells a story like no other. Based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Dory’s music has been influenced by her Cree-Metis roots and Western worldviews. Most often Dory can be found sharing her gift of storytelling via the chords of her voice and the strings of her guitar. We’re happy to have her as Master of Ceremonies for Art in the Park this year.
Cidne Treen has been involved in music since the age of 5 when she started to play the violin and participated in her first jam at age 6 in Yuma, Arizona. Since then she has taken up the bass, drums, double bass and various other instruments. Fall 2007 she devoted herself to playing the guitar and vocals, making a CD of cover songs with music teacher Terry Hoknes. Influenced by the songs of Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet of Toronto, Cidne has performed with them on stage in Calgary and Saskatoon. In January of 2010 she was invited to sing with world famous musician Mary Margaret O’Hara. She has been playing gigs at coffee shops, McNally Robinson, Farmer’s Market, The Saskatoon Fringe Festival, John Arcand Fiddle Fest, Aboriginal Music Festival, The Princess Shop 2nd Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses, The Saskatoon Blues Festival and Corporate functions. She performed at Ness Creek Festival in 2008 with a full band. 2010 Cidne won the Saskatchewan Youth Talent Search and went on to place 4th in Canadians.
“Cidne is possibly the most versatile musician in her teens in Saskatoon”- Terry Hoknes
“Every time I hear her music, she has added another dimension of talent and emotional power. Her voice demands your attention. The world needs to hear more of her” – Leland Pilling
